Singaraja, September 21, 2024 – In an effort to enhance the knowledge and skills of children at Narayan Seva Orphanage, a one-day Canva-based promotional content design trainingwas successfully held at the Informatics Laboratory, FTK, Undiksha. The training involved 11 participants from the Junior High School (SLTP) education level.
This initiative was conducted by the Community Service Implementation Team, under the supervision of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Ganesha University of Education. The primary goal was to equip participants with a clear understanding and practical skills to create engaging and effective promotional content using Canva, a widely-used graphic design platform.
Participants were introduced to key principles in creating promotional content design, including: a.) defining the purpose of the design, b.) understanding the target audience, c.) identifying the core message, also d.) selecting an appropriate design style. In addition to these principles, participants learned basic Canva techniques, starting with an introduction to the platform’s interface and features, progressing to practical steps for designing posters.
One of the participants, Meisa, shared her excitement after the training, “I’m very happy to participate in this training. I’ve gained so much knowledge and practical skills in creating promotional content designs” she said.
Effective promotional content goes beyond visually appealing designs; it must deliver a clear message aligned with the target audience. Canva proves to be a valuable tool, enabling users without a graphic design background to create professional-quality design with ease.
By the end of the training, participants were expected to apply their newfound skills to promote “Narayan Water,” a mineral water product previously marketed conventionally with limited outreach in Kerobokan Village.
This training represents a concrete step in supporting the Narayan Seva Orphanage’s business initiatives while leveraging technology to foster more inclusive and sustainable economic development. Through such initiatives, the orphanage aims to equip its children with the tools and knowledge and succeed in an increasingly digital world.
