Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) continues to improve the status of journals, especially those indexed by the SINTA (Science and Technology Index). One of these is done by intensifying re-accreditation assistance, which is carried out on Monday-Wednesday (13 to 15 July 2020) in Ganesha Room 2 of the Rectorate Building.
Head of the Undiksha Journal Development Center, Dr. I Wayan Widiana, S.Pd., M.Pd., explained that the re-accreditation was carried out on 27 journals consisting of various fields of science, ranging from education, science, humanities, social sciences, economics and technology. “Today we are providing assistance as an effort to make the Undiksha journal better and its status increasing than before,” he said.
Vice-Rector for Academic and Cooperation Affairs Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., said that currently Undiksha has 79 journals indexed by SINTA. This number brings this excellent accredited university to be in the top ranking of the 12 Educational Personnel Education Institutions (LPTK) in Indonesia. However, according to him, there still needs to be efforts to improve, both in terms of quantity and quality, including for global indexed journals. “In the future, we have to keep managing the quantity and quality of journals. In addition, the development can be more specific according to the scientific field. I see that this stage is already on track to answer the Rector’s work contract with the ministry,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Rector of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., in his direction said that an increase in the quantity and quality of journals had been launched in 2016. This was to support the accreditation of study programmes and to support university rankings, both nationally and internationally. “The more the number of our publications, especially in reputable journals, the higher the ranking of universities will be,” he said.
The Rector who was born in Nusa Dua appreciated the performance of the journal management team, both at the university and faculty level. This is expected to improve the status of the journal. “How can a journal that initially entered SINTA be four, can it go up to three. Likewise, I hope three or two will continue to Scopus,” he said, adding that this movement needs to be supported by the entire academic community. (hms)
