Singaraja – Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha), through its Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM), successfully held the 9th National Seminar on Research and Innovation (SENARI) on Friday, November 8, 2024. Conducted in a hybrid format, the seminar served as a platform for academics to present their research findings and innovations while fostering increased research productivity.
This year’s seminar carried the theme “Green Invention and Innovation in Science, Technology, Social, and Humanities for an Advanced Indonesia.” According to the Head of the Committee, Dr. Basilius Redan Werang, S.S., S.Sos., JCL., SENARI has been held annually since 2013, providing a space for academics to present and discuss their research findings. He emphasized that the event is a platform for academic development and a means of fulfilling scientific responsibilities. This year’s theme highlights the global focus on the need for sustainable environmental practices to ensure a better future for coming generations.
The seminar featured two prominent keynote speakers, Erlin Puspaputri, S.So., M.Sc., Research Coordinator at DRTPM, Kemendikbudristek who presented on “Improvement the Quality of Research Policy,” and Dr. Made Windu Antara Kesiman, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of Undiksha’s Visual Vision, Image, and Pattern Research Group (VVIP-RG), who delivered a talk on “The Potential and Challenges of Bali’s Cultural Object Collections in Developing Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Research.” Additionally, seven speakers from various universities across Indonesia participated in the parallel sessions, reflecting the collaborative spirit of knowledge and idea exchange. This collaborative approach is expected to enrich insights and accelerate research advancement in Indonesia.
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Prof. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., representing the Rector, officially opened the event and expressed his appreciation for its successful organization. He underscored the importance of SENARI as part of Undiksha’s mission to become an outstanding educational institution. “This seminar is an essential step toward achieving the university’s goals, particularly in ensuring that every lecturer conducts research annually. We aim for Undiksha to produce 524 lecturer publications in Sinta-indexed journals next year,” he stated.
To further enhance research productivity, Prof. Rasben announced that Undiksha plans to introduce a lecture publication incentive program starting in 2025. This initiative aims to strengthen Undiksha’s presence in international publications and elevate its academic performance on a global scale.”We hope this policy will drive continuous improvement in Undiksha’s academic achievements globally,” he added.
The seminar is expected to become a consistent academic event that facilitates meaningful contributions to academic development and innovation in Indonesia. By fostering collaboration and innovation, SENARI serves as a vital instrument for advancing research excellence and societal progress.
